Hotel reception and common areas very inviting.
However room very dark, could have done with a few incidental lamps…..
Strange rubber nipples on wall relating to lights……slow and unpredictable reaction time…..
Small shower screen enabled flood to be flooded…..plug drainage very poor….

Convenient location, very convenient to everywhere.
The facilities are a bit old, and the bed is very big.

The room is nice, but the elevator is broken. The waiter has a good attitude and helps to mention the door of the room. It is the best hotel for visiting the school

We booked 3 rooms as spending a weekend with my sisters and wanted to stay somewhere nice. Stayed in Malmaison in York recently and enjoyed it. Room was ok. A bit disappointing that the balcony door was locked as there was maintenance work but it couldn’t be helped and we didn’t know there would be a balcony. Room could do with a make over. It just didn’t seem to be top end and a little tatty in places (raw plugs showing in the wall for example). The bathroom was lovely and the shower excellent. Check in was fine and staff were helpful and polite. Great choice at breakfast and the staff worked very hard to ensure everyone was ok. Overall think the hotel is slightly overpriced for what you get but it was clean and comfortable and a great location.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a midweek night in July 2025. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We arrived a little early and as the room was ready, we were able to drop our stuff off, before looking around the city. The hotel is in an excellent location and has parking underground (though you have to pay for this). It is in the Montpellier area of Cheltenham, which has some fabulous restaurants, pubs and cafes and its also within walking distance of the main shopping area and parks. Our room was huge, with coffee making facilities and a huge bath and shower. I can’t believe how big the bed was either. A great nights sleep. The breakfast in the morning was gorgeous and we left very satisfied. A great hotel, in a wonderful location with lovely staff.
